why can't I hear anything
from my speakers when I hit the Play button?
The digitalphono music player is relying on your sound system (sound
card, drivers and speakers) to enable sound, so let's check out your basic
sound capabilities first. Windows provides a GUI for checking out the sanity
of your speakers. It can easily be invoked by:
You can use this tool to ensure that WAVfile audio input can be properly output through your speakers. Simply click on the File-Open tab and select your favorite WAVfile. Browse the ${WINDOWS}/Media directory if you're unsure where to look. After loading a WAVfile, click on the center button to Play it.
If you don't hear anything then check to ensure that your speakers are
attached properly to your sound card. Also check that you have the volume
controls settings ON for WAVfile out.
