Setting your proxy to work with digitalphono music

Note: This page describes setting up a proxy for Macintosh users. Microsoft Windows users should see Setting Proxies for Windows for the Windows version of this discussion.

Netscape browser users who use a proxy must manually change the proxy settings in the Firewalls section of the Internet Config application to match the Netscape proxy settings before downloads will succeed. (Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers set these values automatically.) Follow the directions below to avoid download problems.

First, bring up the Internet Config utility either by double clicking on Macintosh HD:Internet:Internet Utilities:Internet Config:Internet Config or from the digitalphono music Player's

Options-> Preferences...-> Internet Config Settings

Then select the Firewalls settings to show the following dialog:

Next, display Netscape's proxy Preferences window from the menu selection:

Edit -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Proxies

Navigator 4.* users will see a dialog that looks like the following:

Looking at the Netscape proxy window, you see three radio buttons (the yellow oval above). One of these buttons is selected:
Direct connection, Manual proxy configuration, or Automatic proxy configuration. Just follow the instructions below for whichever button your settings has checked.

direct connection

If your Netscape Proxy Preferences window has Direct connection to the Internet selected (yellow oval below), then you are not using a proxy.

Be sure that the Internet Config Firewalls Window is visible (click here for instructions).

Check that the Use HTTP Proxy: field of the Firewalls window is NOT CHECKED
as shown in the red oval below. Save your changes and you should be able to download digitalphono music songs successfully.

manual proxy

If your Netscape Preferences window has Manual proxy configuration selected
(yellow oval below), then click on the Configure... button to the right to view your
Netscape proxy settings.

Be sure that the Internet Config Firewalls Window is visible (click here for instructions).

Once you have all the relevant windows open, you should see something like the image below.

Simply copy the HTTP Proxy address from the Netscape Manual Proxy Configuration window to the Use HTTP Proxy: field of the firewalls settings window
as illustrated by the red ovals above. Next, append a colon ':' to the end of the URL
you just copied to the firewalls settings and append the Port number as shown by
the blue ovals above.

You should also copy the value of the No proxy for: field from the Netscape
Manual Proxy Configuration window to the No proxy for: field of the firewalls
settings window as illustrated by the green ovals above. Also be sure that the box is checked on the firewalls settings window to use the proxy. Save your changes and you should be able to download digitalphono music songs successfully.

automatic proxy

If your Netscape Preferences window has Automatic proxy configuration selected
(yellow oval below), be sure that the Internet Config Firewalls Window is visible (click here for instructions).

Copy the Configuration location URL from the Netscape Automatic Proxy Configuration setting to the Use HTTP Proxy: field of the firewalls settings window as illustrated by the red ovals above.

Your proxy conflict should be resolved, and you should be able to download digitalphono music songs successfully.
